At Seymour Sealing Service, we specialize in chip seal and the use of PASS emulsion. Our chip seal process has three main components, spraying the road with liquid asphalt, covering the asphalt with stone and compacting the surface using rollers. This can be done as a single or double application depending on the town’s needs. We offer a variety of stone options including recycled stone, stone screed from RAP, ½”, ¼” or ⅜” stone grits, or decorative stone. We encourage the use of the recycled stone as it is environmentally and budget friendly. Our chip seal process is effective over millings, processed gravel and most conditions of asphalt. Chip seal comes with numerous benefits including helping municipalities extend road life and preserve existing pavement.
Fog sealing is a service that can be done in addition to our chip seal process. Fog seal is an emulsified asphalt product, similar to tack coat. The three main benefits to using Fog seal are: helping lock the stone from chip seal in place, giving the surface it is being applied to asphalt properties and making the road black which helps with heat absorption/snow melting. A fog sealed road will also enhance line striping.
Our company has the equipment and knowledge necessary to aid municipalities in reshaping their roads. We can also work in conjunction with the town's equipment to maximize the efficiency of the process. Leveling and patching is commonly done in the fall for roads that are scheduled to be chip sealed the following year. Paving in the fall allows for the asphalt to fully cure over the winter. Reshaping the road will also help with drainage and snow removal. At Seymour Sealing Service, we focus on leveling that will complement the entire chip seal process, rather than how many tons we can pave.
We have three high dump sweepers in our inventory that allow us to help with winter clean up as well as provide pre and post sweeping services for chip seal and fog seal.
Included in our inventory are tri-axle dump trucks. They allow us to facilitate the many needs that towns and customers have.
To assist towns with gravel roads, we at Seymour Sealing have a mid size grader and several rollers. Graders can recover material from washed out areas and spread new material as needed. Rollers compact stone for a durable and clean finish.
